Position Overview 
 
The PCB & Layout Designer will support the design, modification, and maintenance of PCB layouts for GNSS and RF-based products. Working closely with engineers and designers, this role will focus primarily on PCB layout design using Altium Designer, supporting product updates, component changes, prototype development, and documentation activities. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in PCB design, an understanding of basic RF principles, and a willingness to expand into prototype assembly and board validation activities over time. 

 

 

Responsibilities 
 

  • Design and modify PCB layouts using Altium Designer 

  • Update existing PCB designs to support component substitutions and product enhancements 

  • Collaborate with RF, hardware, and systems engineers on new and existing product designs 

  • Create and maintain PCB documentation, fabrication files, and design records 

  • Perform PCB design reviews, design rule checks (DRC), and manufacturability verification 

  • Support schematic capture to PCB layout implementation 

  • Assist with prototype assembly and SMT rework as required 

  • Conduct basic board bring-up and initial validation activities 

  • Troubleshoot PCB-related issues with support from senior engineers and designers 

  • Contribute to the design of PCBs used in products, fixtures, and development projects 

 
 

 

Qualifications 
 

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, RF Engineering, or a related field  
    OR 

  • Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline combined with relevant industry experience 

  • 2-4 years of experience in PCB layout or PCB design 

  • Experience using Altium Designer for PCB layout 

  • Experience working with multi-layer PCBs 

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and component datasheets 

  • Understanding of PCB design principles, signal integrity, and manufacturability 

  • Basic understanding of RF concepts such as transmission lines, impedance matching, and high-frequency layout considerations 

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary engineering team 

 

 

Additional Requirements 
 

  • Experience with SMT soldering, prototype assembly, or PCB rework is considered an asset 

  • Experience performing board bring-up, troubleshooting, or validation activities is considered an asset 

  • Familiarity with RF or GNSS products is considered an asset 

  • Experience using oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers, or other electronic test equipment is considered an asset, but not required 

 
 

Compensation 
 

$75,000 - $85,000
