Position Overview:
The QA Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring software meets established quality standards through the design, execution, and documentation of test plans and test cases. This role provides structured, methodical quality assurance to support the delivery of reliable, high-performing, and user-ready software. The position plays a critical role in identifying issues early in the development lifecycle and contributing to continuous improvement in software development practices.
Responsibilities:
Execute functional, regression, and exploratory testing across web, mobile, and/or backend systems.
Identify, document, and track software defects using the team’s defect tracking system such as Azure DevOps or Jira.
Assist QA Leads in designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive test plans and test cases based on requirements and technical specifications.
Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and QA team members to review requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and align on quality goals.
Ensure implemented software modules meet client expectations and business requirements.
Participate in Agile sprint ceremonies including sprint planning and retrospectives to support test planning and risk assessment.
Analyze test results and provide clear, actionable feedback to development teams.
Assist in the creation, maintenance, and improvement of QA processes and documentation.
Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) planning and coordination with business stakeholders on an occasional basis (less than 60%).
Review or support automated test scripts on an occasional basis (less than 40%), where applicable.
Perform other duties as required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications:
2–4 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing.
Strong knowledge of test planning, test case design, and test execution methodologies.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Familiarity with defect tracking systems and QA tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including defect reporting, release documentation, and customer-facing troubleshooting.
Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Experience performing API testing using tools such as Postman or Swagger.
Basic knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium or TestIM, or a strong interest in automation and AI-driven testing enhancements.
Experience with CI/CD environments is preferred.
Understanding of healthcare, finance, or other regulated industries is an asset.
Knowledge of Accessibility and WCAG testing standards is an asset.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to support occasional UAT activities as needed.
Compensation:
$65,000-$75,000
