Position Overview
 

The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for the next chapter of communications that promotes transparency, engagement and alignment through captivating messaging, storytelling, listening, and monitoring that connects employees with the Calian vision.  

Working with the Director, Corporate Communications you will work in partnership with teams across the business to support our growing and ever-evolving global organization. With over 4,000 employees spanning Canada, the U.S. and Europe you will play a critical role in the development, implementation and management of the employee communications strategies, tools and tactics to keep the entire business aligned, engaged, and informed.

You have experience in leveraging leading-edge technology and programs within a diverse employee base in multiple industries and are passionate about the quality of communications you develop and deliver and understand what it takes to bring our employee communications to the next level. 
 

Responsibilities
 

Together with the Director, Corporate Communications, and in partnership with the CHRO (Chief Human Resources Officer) you will plan and execute a strategic, comprehensive, and proactive employee communications strategy, campaigns, employee comms platforms and associated tools.

 

Lead Internal Communication Strategy:
Develop and implement a comprehensive, strategic internal communications plan that aligns with the organization’s objectives and core values that not only informs but also inspires. You’ll be the architect behind proactive communication campaigns that aligns Calian’s strategic objectives, making sure our team is engaged, connected and our culture thrives.

 

Manage and Develop Communication Platforms and Practices:

You’ll identify and implement communication tools are not just used, but loved, and reach the broader Calian team across all markets and industries. You’ll design and establish company-wide communication structures and practices to ensure information is exchanged seamlessly and creates two-way dialogue and feedback.

 

Develop Engaging Content that tells a story:

Leveraging our days of significance and Rhythm of the Business calendar, you’ll write, edit, and produce content that connects with our people and takes into account the external audiences we serve, especially the voice of our customers —whether it’s a high-energy town hall, an informative intranet article or video, or an inspiring email from leadership. You’ll also provide guidance on communications drafted by internal stakeholders and make recommendations to ensure messaging is consistent with internal strategy and tone.

 

Internal Events Management:

You'll bring our employee experience to life through events that create a high impact and are informative. From all-employee town halls, business unit town halls or strategic events that bring people together, you’ll create moments that align with our goals and keep our team connected. In addition, you’ll support events that are delivered by our volunteer-led groups including our Employee Resource Group. 

 

Champion Continuous Improvement:

You'll define key performance metrics and constantly measure and refine our communication strategies, ensuring they remain impactful, relevant, and aligned with our evolving needs.

 

Support Change Management:

As one of our go-to experts for change management, you’ll guide us through transitions and M&As with smooth communication strategies that keep everyone on the same page and excited for what’s next.
 

What You’ll Be Expected to Influence:
 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Develop and maintain exceptional internal client relations with leaders including the senior leadership team; collaborate with internal stakeholders to integrate employee communications content into overall company goals, enhancing information flow cross-functionally and reducing silos.
  • Brand and Culture Building: Work with senior leadership, CHRO and internal teams you will bring Calian’s brand and strategic goals to life by guide behavioral adoption and action.
  • Fostering an Inclusive Communication Environment: Encourage effective communication and information sharing among all employees. Use honest, transparent, and kind communication approaches to create an inclusive environment where every employee feels a sense of belonging and psychological safety.
     

Qualifications
 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, or a related field or combination of education and experience.

Years experience:

  • +6 years in employee communications, or related field preferably at a publicly traded company
  • +3 years working with employee-based technology, such as internal websites or communication tools(e.g., Igloo, HubSpot), or similar platforms
  • +3 years of delivering communications results, on time and on budget
  • +3 years with track record of setting, communicating organizational goals and objectives
  • Strong consideration for those that speak English and French
