Position Overview
The Health & Safety, Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for assisting in ensuring compliance with Health and Safety legislation and Quality Assurance standards within Calian’s Nuclear division processes.
This role involves planning and conducting audits, supporting fieldwork from an H&S perspective, and performing root cause analysis to resolve issues and improve processes. Familiarity with process maintenance, auditing, and quality assurance is essential.
Responsibilities
• Assist in maintain the existing Quality Management System and confirm its fitness for purpose on an ongoing basis
• Support field work by applying health and safety knowledge to ensure that all processes align with current H&S legislation
• Perform root cause analysis on safety incidents and quality issues, proposing corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risks
• Maintain detailed documentation of quality assurance activities, audit results, and safety compliance records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility
• Conduct thorough audits of management system processes, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring compliance with safety protocols
• Monitor and analyze quality assurance and safety data, identifying trends and potential risks, and suggesting improvements
• Other duties, as required
Qualifications
• A relevant undergraduate degree in Sciences, Engineering, Nuclear and/or Health & Safety related certifications
• 3-5 years experience working within a similar capacity within Health & Safety/Quality Assurance
• Must be knowledgeable/experienced in understanding and implementing Canadian (Ontario) Health & Safety legislation
• Knowledge of applicable Quality Management and Nuclear standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IS14005, N288, N286-12, N286.7, N299, etc.) will be considered a strong asset
• Experience and proficiency in writing technical documents
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
