Position Overview 
 
Reporting to the Systems Engineering team, the Robotics & Systems Engineering student will support the development and testing of robotic navigation platforms related to resilient and precise GNSS positioning. This role offers hands-on exposure to advanced PNT (Positioning, Navigation, and Timing) systems, autonomous mission planning, and performance validation in both lab and field environments. 

 

The student will contribute to real-world system development by assisting with test scenario creation, field data collection, and performance analysis of next-generation navigation technologies 
 

Responsibilities 

  • Support the development and execution of robotic navigation test scenarios 

  • Assist with integration and validation of GNSS and PNT systems 

  • Conduct field testing and data acquisition activities 

  • Analyze performance data and prepare technical summaries and reports 

  • Contribute to autonomous mission planning and system configuration 

  • Support software development and scripting activities (Python, embedded systems) 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot and improve system performance 

  • Document processes, findings, and recommendations 

 

Qualifications 
 

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering program (3rd or 4th year preferred) in Automation & Robotics, Robotics Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field 

  • Strong interest in autonomous systems, robotics, or navigation technologies 

  • Experience with ROS/ROS2, ArduPilot, PixHawk, or similar autonomous platforms 

  • Programming experience in Python and/or Embedded C 

  • Familiarity with Linux and/or RTOS environments 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with task-driven guidance 

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 

 

Compensation 
 

$27.74 - $30.74/hour
