Position Overview 

 

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SMT Technician to join our electronics manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) processes, PCB rework and repair, as well as operating and troubleshooting SMT equipment’s. Experience with key machines such as the Nordson ASYMTEK SL-940 conformal coating machine, JUKI SMT equipment (RS1 and LX8 models), and the CyberOptics SE350 solder paste inspection machine will be considered a strong advantage 

 

Responsibilities 
 
 

  • Support setup preparation for all SMT machines, ensuring correct program loading, stencil mounting, feeder setup, and material verification prior to production runs. 

  • Operate and maintain SMT production equipment, including Solder paste printing, pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, SPI, AOI, and inspection tools. 

  • Perform rework and repair of SMT and through-hole components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with IPC standards. 

  • Set up, program, operate, and troubleshoot the Nordson ASYMTEK SL-940 conformal coating machine for precise coating application. (Need to follow the Hazardous material management process) 

  • Inspect PCBs before and after conformal coating and SMT processes to ensure quality and compliance with specifications. 

  • Operate and maintain JUKI SMT machines (including RS1 and LX8 models), ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. 

  • Create programs and Perform solder paste inspection using CyberOptics SE350 to ensure accurate paste deposition. 

  • Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) and general maintenance of all SMT machines and related equipment to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime. 

  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions accurately. 

  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to support process improvements and resolve production issues. 

  • Maintain production records, follow quality standards, and ensure compliance with ESD safety procedures. 

  • Excellent understanding of upstream and downstream processes and how they are affected in SMT line. 

  • Meet production targets and output goals allocated for each shift, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to production schedules. 

  • Support and contribute to OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvements by reducing equipment downtime, improving cycle times, and minimizing defects. 

  • Good knowledge of SMT processes, soldering standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7711/7721), and PCB rework techniques. 

 

Qualifications 

 

Education: Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Robotics or a related field preferred; or high school diploma with significant hands-on SMT experience. 

  

Years Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in SMT assembly, rework, and equipment troubleshooting. 

  • Minimum 2 years' experience within a manufacturing organization 

  • In-depth knowledge of SMT equipment and processes  

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment or electronics assembly environment 

 

 

Additional Requirements 
 

  • This position requires working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to SMT production equipment and chemicals used in conformal coating and solder paste machine. 

  • Candidates must be adaptable and willing to work in rotating or fixed shift schedules as needed
