Position Overview
The Vice President of Health Services will report into President, Health and is responsible for leading and managing the overall operations and strategic direction of the Health Services division of Calian Health. This role will be an integral member of the Health Leadership Team and will oversee all Calian Health Services businesses that includes the Defence and Clinician Services portfolios. The main goal of this role will be to drive growth and innovation, ensuring regulatory compliance, improving patient care quality, and achieving financial performance targets. Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute long-term strategic plans for the Health Services in alignment with organizational goals
- Provide visionary leadership to the Health Services team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with the Calian Health Leadership Team to integrate health services strategies with overall business objectives including digital transformation
- Identify strengths and weaknesses of the business unit and develop strategies to exploit or mitigate them
Defence and Clinician Services Management:
- Oversee the delivery of all health services programs, ensuring high standards of patient care and compliance with regulatory requirements
- Lead and manage Health Services teams, including recruitment, training and performance evaluation, and professional development
- Optimize operational workflows to enhance efficiency and service delivery
- Develop, recommend, and implement short and long-range business plans to achieve organic and acquisitive growth targets while minimizing associated risks
- Identify, implement, and articulate the objectives critical to the team’s success
- Establish and ensure that the team operates within appropriate policy guidelines
Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the Health Services forecast and budget, ensuring financial sustainability and cost-effectiveness
- Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets
Quality Improvement and Compliance:
- Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service delivery
- Ensure compliance with all healthcare regulations and standards
- Monitor and analyze Health Services performance metrics, implementing corrective actions as needed
Growth and Innovation:
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business growth within existing contracts and new markets
- Develop and implement plans to expand service offerings and attract a wider customer base
- Lead competitive analysis to inform service line enhancements and opportunity assessments
Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration:
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, regulatory agencies, and community organizations
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated and coordinated care
- Represent the organization at industry events and conferences to promote Calian Health’s visibility and thought leadership
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in healthcare administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a related field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in healthcare management, with at least 10 years in a senior leadership role overseeing clinical operations and health services
- Extensive experience managing large-scale contracts and health services portfolios with significant annual revenue
- Experience in managing complex federal, provincial and defence contracts is highly desirable
- Bilingual in English/French is highly desirable
