Position Overview

We are looking for a Vice President, Defence Investment & Industrial Strategy to play a pivotal role in strengthening Canada’s defence ecosystem. This role is focused on accelerating the path from innovation to deployed capability by using capital as a strategic lever to drive real-world outcomes and operational programs. You will work across government, industry, and investment ecosystems to structure growth pathways that ultimately lead to contracts and deployed solutions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and align public and private capital to accelerate defence capability growth
  • Manage a pipeline of high-potential Canadian SMEs, technologies, and strategic opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships across government, primes, and investment ecosystems
  • Create pathways that connect funding into partnerships and procurement outcomes
  • Identify defence market priorities, funding flows, and growth opportunities
  • Deploy capital to drive outcomes by supporting high-potential companies
  • Structure pathways from prototype development through to operational deployment
  • Connect SMEs with primes, integrators, and major defence programs
  • Shape opportunities to align with procurement realities and timelines
  • Identify and advance high-impact strategic opportunities tied to capability development
  • Work cross-functionally with business development, strategy, and executive leadership
  • Engage with key stakeholders across government, industry, and innovation partners
  • Represent the organization at major defence industry forums and events

 

Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years of experience across defence, government, investment, or industry
  • Strong understanding of how defence programs are funded, structured, and procured in Canada
  • Experience working with or scaling SMEs, startups, or emerging technologies
  • Familiarity with government funding programs and innovation pathways
  • Strong financial literacy including capital structures and investment models
  • Established network across defence, government, and/or investment ecosystems

 

Additional Requirements

  • Experience in venture building, private equity, or strategic investment
  • Exposure to primes, capture, or complex program delivery environments
  • Experience in technology commercialization or dual-use innovation
  • Eligibility for Government of Canada security clearance

 

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall expertise.
