The Calian Nuclear team provides a comprehensive range of services covering the entire nuclear lifecycle. This includes Safety Analysis, Licensing, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning, Waste management, and cutting-edge Systems Engineering and Robotics.
Position Overview
The Analyst plays a key technical role in the performance of projects within the Calian Nuclear team. The Analyst can support technical projects in nuclear safety and licensing.
Responsibilities
- Perform and support scientific and technical project work for Calian Nuclear customers.
- Support the development of high-quality technical reports and documents.
- Act as a resource to the Manager in support of developing business opportunities and proposals.
- Ensure all project deliverables are developed and maintained in accordance with the Calian Nuclear Quality Assurance Program (QAP).
- Participate, as part of a project team, in conducting technical analyses.
- Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and potential business partners.
- Develop and propose methods and approaches to support direction provided by more senior team members.
- Take on increasing levels of responsibilities for the performance of project tasks and liaison with the customers.
Other duties may be assigned depending on organizational requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with 2+ years of experience
- Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g., REGDOC-2.4.1, REGDOC-2.4.2, REGDOC-2.5.2, REGDOC‑2.4.4, SSG-2, SSG‑25)
- Registration as an EIT is an asset
- Relevant nuclear safety software (e.g., MCNP, SCALE, ADDAM, Phoenix Architect, GOTHIC, MAAP, MicroShield, MACCS)
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Hazard screening and assessment
- Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA)
- Event Identification and Classification
- Deterministic Safety Analysis (DSA)
- Safety Report development and updates for utilities
- Safety analysis for Class IB facilities
- Licence applications for Class IA reactor facilities
- Safety Analysis Reports for Type A and B transportation packages
Additional Requirements
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
- High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong ability to articulate concepts effectively.
- Demonstrated ability in technical report writing.
- Must be eligible to obtain Government of Canada security clearance.
- Ability to work in a hybrid model from one of the following locations: Ottawa, Toronto, or Saskatoon.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% as required.
Compensation
$70,000-$110,000 per annum.
