The Calian Nuclear team provides a comprehensive range of services covering the entire nuclear lifecycle. This includes Safety Analysis, Licensing, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning, Waste management, and cutting-edge Systems Engineering and Robotics.

 

Position Overview

Calian is currently seeking a team-oriented Analyst or Intermediate Analyst/Engineer to support Systems Engineering. The Analyst or Intermediate Analyst/Engineer supports the planning, development, and delivery of reactor tooling and nuclear system projects. In this role, the successful candidate will work alongside a team of engineers to assist with operations planning, troubleshooting, and engineering documentation. The role will involve proactivity in learning and discovering project details, along with perseverance in working toward solutions with thorough attention to detail.

 

Responsibilities

Systems Engineering:

 

  • Guide reactor tool development projects using the systems engineering development process
  • Support development of Operations Concepts, and conceptual engineering deliverables
  • Establish system-level requirements and interface requirements
  • Develop detailed operations planning / storyboarding / COMS design considerations
  • Build process Failure Modes & Effects Analyses (pFMEAs); Risk assessments
  • Prepare and/or review mechanical, electrical, civil drawings / documentation
  • Prepare verification & validation plans, and document the results
  • Coordinate with various disciplines to support project requirements
  • Lead off-nominal / anomaly system hardware investigations. Coordinate troubleshooting to determine root cause and appropriate solutions
  • Prepare and updating system engineering processes
  • Develop new products and processes to improve Calian’s offerings within its nuclear line of business
  • Provide system operations expertise to support deployment of reactor tooling
  • Perform operations planning / storyboarding / logistics
  • Coordinate with various disciplines to support project tasks

 

Qualifications

  • BASc / BSc in relevant field (i.e., Engineering in Systems, Mech, Elec, Controls, Robotics, Nuclear)
  • 0-4 years of experience within the Canadian nuclear industry or machine design is preferred
  • Experience working with Canadian Nuclear utilities on nuclear systems and tooling
  • Working knowledge in systems engineering and design engineering practices
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills (candidate will interface with and present to the customer)
  • Experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS.Visio, MS.Excel, MS.Project are highly valued
  • Hands-on, operational experience working in field settings is an asset
  • P.Eng. within the province of Ontario is an asset
  • Candidate must be able to obtain Reliability security clearance

Location: This role involves frequent travel to Bruce County, Ontario, including extended stays or potential temporary relocation to the area.

 

Note: This role is open to candidates at both the Analyst and Intermediate Analyst levels. The level at which a candidate is hired will be determined based on their skills, experience, and demonstrated competencies.

 

Compensation

$75,000-$105,000 per annum
