The Calian Nuclear team provides a comprehensive range of services covering the entire nuclear lifecycle. This includes Safety Analysis, Licensing, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning, Waste management, and cutting-edge Systems Engineering and Robotics.
Position Overview

Responsibilities
Project Engineering
- Coordinate with project contributors across multiple disciplines to support project objectives.
- Collaborate with team members to analyze and respond to customer needs.
- Contribute to the development of project schedules and track progress toward key milestones.
- Review mechanical, electrical, and system drawings/documentation and provide input as needed.
I&C Engineering
- Support I&C system design efforts through Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detailed Design phases.
- Assist in overseeing fabrication, assembly, production testing, validation testing, site installation, and commissioning activities.
- Develop I&C design documentation, including OM Manuals, Design Descriptions, and Troubleshooting Guides.
- Use drawing creation software (e.g., AutoCAD) to develop instrumentation diagrams, wiring diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and system architecture visuals.
- Contribute to work involving common PLC designs and programming (Siemens, Schneider, Rockwell, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, etc.).
- Support programming and integration activities for industrial robotic systems (e.g., Kuka, Fanuc).
- Apply knowledge of analog/digital instrumentation, control, and monitoring; experience with computer vision is considered an asset.
- Incorporate considerations for nuclear regulatory design certification, interfaces, quality assurance requirements, human factors, safety hazards, reliability, and cybersecurity.
Network Engineering
- Assist in the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Contribute to programming tasks for new network designs and updates to existing network configurations.
- Support troubleshooting efforts by analyzing and resolving network issues and performing root cause assessments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and related records.
- Relevant network certifications (e.g., CCNA) are considered an asset.
Other duties as required within the context of the role.
Qualifications
- BASc / BSc or equivalent, along with min 2 years experience, or MASc / MEng / MSc or equivalent, along with 0-2 years experience
- Educational background in the nuclear field and Systems Engineering is preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required, as this candidate will be entrusted to directly interface and present to the customer.
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work onsite in the GTA 2-4 days per week.
- Travel within 200km of GTA) may be required on occasion.
- Must be able to obtain Reliability Security Clearance.
Compensation
$70,000 - $110,000 per annum.
