Mergers & Acquisitions Analyst

Position Overview

We are looking for a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Analyst to join Calian’s Mergers and Acquisitions team. In this role, you will support the execution of M&A activities by conducting due diligence, building financial models, preparing reports, supporting transaction execution, and contributing to integration planning. You will also research markets, assess acquisition opportunities, and present findings and recommendations to the M&A team, executive team, and business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and analyze financial reports based on information obtained and prepare various scenarios to help establish potential deals, including detailed financial and valuation models

• Prepare customized presentations for business executive teams to support decision making

• Assist the leadership team in preparing offer documentation, including Indications of Interest and Letters of Intent

• Conduct in-depth research and gather qualifying information to identify potential M&A opportunities

• Identify potential risks and impacts a transaction may have on the organization and propose corresponding solutions

• Meet with leadership teams and advisors to determine business requirements and potential opportunities

• Collaborate with senior management on prospecting activities

• Support strategic positioning of the business with potential acquisition targets

• Perform due diligence tasks across functional areas as required

• Support deal closing activities, including purchase agreement inputs, net working capital analysis, and tracking of closing conditions

• Provide support for planning and execution of post-transaction integration activities

• Perform other duties as required within the context of the role

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics

• 2-5 years of experience in a financial or accounting role at the transactional level

• Experience participating in mergers and acquisitions activities

• Experience with financial modelling, valuation analysis, and financial due diligence

• Ability to think at both detailed and summary levels

• Exceptional attention to detail when drafting agreements and conducting due diligence

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather, prioritize, and interpret statistical, operational, and financial data

• Ability to think proactively, critically, and independently to make sound decisions

• Demonstrated sense of urgency, initiative, and commitment to achieving results

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

Compensation

$90,000 to $120,000
