Position Overview
At Calian, our Nuclear Project Managers are accountable for leading and delivering projects within the divisions various teams:
- Nuclear Safety and Licensing
- Environmental Protection and Impact Assessments
- Decommissioning and Waste Management
- Emergency Preparedness and Training
- Systems Engineering and Robotics
These projects require leadership from initiation to closeout, while also effectively balancing the requirements of quality, scope, schedule, and budget.
We are currently looking for Project Managers, primarily with Nuclear industry experience, of all experience levels to join our ranks.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside a team of skilled engineers, analysts, vendors and other project support staff to deliver projects on time and on budget
- Develop, track and maintain project schedules and budgets
- Identify and manage project risks
- Liaise effectively with clients
- Monitor and control progress on the project, providing regular updates on schedule and budget to senior management and to clients
- Can explain concepts such as baseline, critical path, schedule performance index, variances, cost performance index, accruals, forecasting (EAC), and interpret them on a schedule.
- Develop new clients and projects based on expertise in project areas
- Other project related tasks and duties as required
Qualifications
Project Manager
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Business, or business administration
- 5+ years experience of managing projects is required
- PMP or equivalent project management training will be considered an asset
- Proficiency in Primavera Cloud or P6 and/or Microsoft Project is an asset
- Experience working within the Nuclear industry or on Nuclear related projects will be considered an asset
- Working knowledge and application of quality standards, CNSC regulatory documents, and other applicable nuclear codes and standards is also preferable
Senior Project Manager
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Business, or Business Administration
- 10+ years experience of managing projects is required
- Successful completion of a PMP or similar project management training
- Proficiency in Primavera Cloud or P6 and/or Microsoft Project
- Experience working within the Nuclear industry or Nuclear related projects is a requirement for this position
- Working knowledge and application of quality standards, CNSC regulatory documents, and other applicable nuclear codes and standards is required
Additional Requirements
- Demonstrated technical writing and reporting experience
- A demonstratable track record in managing multiple customers and coordination of multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated team building skills coupled with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of budgeting and scheduling
- Willingness to work at/travel to customer sites when needed (may include Toronto, Tiverton, Durham Region, Regina, or Ottawa);
- Excellent problem-solving skills, team-player who looks for win-win solutions and provides excellent customer service to both external and internal customers
- MUST possess or be eligible to obtain a Canadian Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level as well as other Nuclear site clearances (where applicable)
