Position Overview

The Senior Analyst – Decommissioning Waste Management plays a key technical role in the performance of projects within the Calian Nuclear team. The Senior Analyst can plan and conduct waste and site characterization surveys consistent with industry best practices, such as MARSSIM, MARSAME, CSA N292.8 and CSA N294. The Senior Analyst is experienced with the oversight of field work, including worker health and safety, pre-job safety briefings, operation of field survey equipment, collection of samples and application of chain-of-custody. The Senior Analyst can act as the main technical interface (i.e., subject matter expert) with clients on a variety of projects. They can lead medium to large projects and are expected to provide guidance, and mentorship, to other staff within the Calian Nuclear team. 

 

Responsibilities
 

  • Lead the development of high-quality technical reports and documents, including but limited to Characterization Plans and Characterization Reports.  
  • Is independent and autonomous, and only requires strategic direction from the management team 
  • Provide mentorship, and assist in the development of, technical staff within the Calian Nuclear team 
  • Provide support to business development on technical aspects of proposals 
  • Participates in client meetings as subject matter expert 
  • Technical lead for medium to large projects 
  • Assists with the identification of new markets and clients 
  • Cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and potential business partners

Qualifications
 

  • BSc, BEng, MSc, or Ph.D. in relevant field (i.e., nuclear, engineering, sciences) 
  • At least 8 years of experience in relevant field and recognized as an emerging expert in their field 
  • Proficiency in the application of site and waste characterization techniques 
  • Understanding and experience with radiological field survey equipment and laboratory analyses 
  • Experience in supervising field work and upholding safe work practices 
  • Fluency in French is an asset 
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently 
  • High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with strong ability to articulate concepts effectively 
  • Demonstrated ability in technical report writing 
  • Experience leading teams, mentoring and training technical staff 
  • Strong leader with exceptional mentoring, interpersonal and motivational skills 
     

This role is primarily remote, with approximately 10% travel to Quebec. Therefore, we welcome candidates from across Canada but would prefer those in Quebec and Ontario.
