Position Overview

At Calian, our Nuclear Analysts play a key technical role in the performance of various projects within the Calian Nuclear team.

 

These Analysts/Engineers support various technical projects in the core areas of the group which includes: Nuclear Safety and Licensing, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning & Waste Management, Emergency Preparedness and Systems Engineering.

 

Calian Nuclear is looking for a Senior Automation & Robotics Engineer to support development of robotic tooling for Nuclear reactor applications.

 

Responsibilities

•        Perform and support scientific and technical project work for Calian Nuclear clients

•        Support the development of high-quality technical documents outlining research approach, development and testing procedures

•        Act as a resource to the Director in support of developing business opportunities and proposals

•        Provide support to Project Managers as required, including reporting to clients, reviewing the work of project team members and subcontractors, and supervising project team members

•        Ability to communicative effectively with technical and non-technical members both within the R&D team and with project partners

•        Participate, as part of a project team, in conducting technical analyses

•        Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and potential business partners

 

Qualifications

•        5-10 years of experience as an Automation & Robotics Engineer in a similar capacity

•        A relevant degree in Engineering or Science

•        Strong working knowledge and proficiency in ROS/ROS2; MoveIt

•        Experience with professional software development work, including robotic systems architecture

•        Experience with Cobot manipulators and UGVs (experience with Universal Robotics UR series and Clearpath Robotics Husky technologies will be considered an asset)

•        Strong working knowledge of Python and C++ programming languages

•        Capable of integrating components from multiple manufacturers into a single robotic system

 

Additional Requirements

•        The ability to travel to client sites in the GTA (General Toronto Area) as needed as well as visit other sites such a Bruce Power (Tiverton, ON) a few times per month

•        An understanding of how to interpret and effectively contribute to long-term generational projects

•        Prototyping / fabricating mechanical, electrical, and software components

•        Experience in 3D Printing will be considered an asset

•        Experience with CADD Modelling (particularly SolidWorks, will also be considered an asset)
