About the role:


The Software Project Manager position is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and innovative tech organization with an international reach. Calian, Advanced Technologies is looking for an experienced Software Development Project Manager to own the planning, execution, and reporting for technical projects within our satellite communications domain. You will manage a team of software developers and systems engineers that provide innovative solutions to the world’s leading satellite operators. The Software Project Manager will provide oversight to project team members, be responsible for one or more related projects, as well as plan, manage and execute the project life cycle, including ensuring projects are on budget, on schedule, and meet the scope and quality standards of Calian and our customers.


The successful candidate will be able to choose a remote, hybrid, or in-office work environment.


Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities:


  • You will create detailed project plans, work structure breakdowns, and resource allocation plans while adhering to current innovation and quality standards. This includes outlining the scope through detailed budgets, schedules, and milestones
  • You will act as the main point of contact for clients by interacting effectively regarding timelines, budgets, objectives, and expectations while professionally maintaining client relationships
  • You will work to identify and resolve any barriers or obstacles that impact the project’s success
  • You will effectively create and maintain professional relationships with cross-functional departments and business managers to achieve project objectives and milestones
  • You will manage a team of talented software developers and system engineers. These engineers/designers will report to you for the project purposes  


The Skills and Experience You Have:


  • Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science degree combined with Electrical Engineering/Engineering Physics
  • 3+ years of experience leading engineering projects that are delivered on a budget, with tight schedules, and managing deliverables from multiple teams
  • Experience engaging with customers, managing customer expectations, and demonstrated pragmatic decision-making
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and multi-tasking with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow through on projects
  • Experience in software development and Agile project management is required
  • You will have the ability to meet the requirements outlined in the Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level
