Position Overview
As a Flight Dynamics Analyst you will work hand-in-hand with the Satellite Operations team, based in Saint-Hubert, Quebec and ensure a healthy fleet of spacecraft. You will experience challenges ranging from observing ozone particulates to imaging natural disasters to hunting comets; each mission is unique with different needs and support requirements. The Flight Dynamics Analyst is relied upon to monitor orbit evolutions, maintain the operating orbits to their requirements, and analyze and implement collision avoidance actions.
Responsibilities
- You will investigate, troubleshoot, and problem solve complex scenarios and present recommended solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences
- You will become a technical expert regarding orbit investigations and reporting
- You will become a technical expert in reviewing, updating and implementing nominal and non-nominal operations procedures
- You will monitor the performance of all scheduled orbit maneuver activities to confirm propulsion health status and maintain logging records
- You will monitor and advise on potential collision avoidance events and implement any avoidance actions as needed to reduce the risk of in-orbit collision.
- You will coordinate the assignment and implementation of tasks to ensure the performance of the orbit determination product generation supporting the ground station antenna pointing, satellite operations planning, science data planning and processing.
- You will support flight dynamics operations and upgrades
- You will maintain software configurations and identify and implement improvements while maintaining relevant documentation
- You will participate in the Launch and Early Orbit phase (LEOP), Commissioning and Routine phases, and Decommissioning phase
- You will participate in an on-call rotation
Qualifications
- University Degree preferably in Physics, Space Physics, Engineering Physics, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with one or more of the following elements is an asset:
- Orbit mechanics
- Orbit determination
- Experience with STK/ODTK
- Space environment characteristics
- Data analysis tools such as MATLAB
- Programming skills (Python, Java, SQL, Perl, Matlab, C ...)
- Fluent knowledge of both spoken and written English is required and French is an asset
- You are willing and able to participate in an on-call rotation to provide mission-critical support 24/7
- You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
- This is a hybrid position that requires someone to be on-site and allows some flexibility for virtual work
