Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for planning and conducting quality assurance activities on engineering and/or manufacturing processes on individual projects and for planning and conducting audits of the management system processes. The Quality Assurance Specialist assists project teams and functional departments in resolving quality problems and improving processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the existing Quality Management System and confirm its fitness for purpose on an ongoing basis
- Review existing processes and procedures to ensure compliance to the current version of ISO 9001
- Identifying opportunities for improvement and non-conformities in a proactive manner
- Identify and recommend processes and procedural changes based on regulatory requirements and business standards
- Work with management and technical experts across the business, towards continuous improvement in system design and process flow, taking into account unique environments and situations
- Drive accountability for optimization of the Quality Management System through performance monitoring and metric analysis
- Participate as part of technical project teams to support project planning, development and realization, as required, in the fields of Engineering and Manufacturing as required.
- Review customer and contract documents and ensure compliance with customer Quality requirements.
- When assigned, act as QA Co-ordinator on project teams. Co-ordination activities may include writing deliverable QA plans, verifying contractual quality requirements are satisfied, interfacing with project managers, interfacing with customers, and reporting status to the QA Manager
- Plan and conduct system audits to assure that processes are conducted in accordance with process requirements and internal procedures. This includes interfacing with process owners, writing audit reports and reviewing, tracking and verifying corrective actions
- Other duties, as required
Qualifications
Education
A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a two-year technology diploma, or equivalent.
Years experience
- At least two years experience in a quality assurance or engineering or technical role in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of applicable management system standards is considered an asset (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100, N288, N286-12, N286.7, N299, etc.)
- Experience and proficiency in writing technical documents
- Very proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Training in quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9000 or others) and / or auditor training, is considered an asset
- Experience as an auditor, is considered an asset
- Drives timely execution with a proactive, solution-focused approach centered on delivering customer value.
- Proficient in analyzing, prioritizing, and communicating complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Applies critical, independent thinking to solve complex problems and make data-informed decisions.

- Effectively manages multiple projects and shifting priorities with flexibility and composure.
